On an external display Perch floats as an island under the menu bar, and steps aside when menu bar icons reach the middle. Open the lid and it moves back into the notch, no restart.
Every Claude Code and Codex session becomes a live activity. When one asks for permission the notch turns amber, and Focus brings the right terminal forward.
One click adds Perch’s hooks to ~/.claude/settings.json or ~/.codex/hooks.json. Your own hooks stay where they are.
Perch shows the diff before it writes, and backs up the original file next to it.
Each hook checks that Perch is still installed and does nothing if it isn’t, so removing Perch never breaks an agent.

No. On a display without one, such as an external monitor with the lid closed, Perch shows a floating island at the top of the screen. It switches between the two when you open or close the lid.
Any Mac on macOS 26 Tahoe or later, Apple silicon or Intel. Perch is built on macOS 26 APIs, so it doesn’t run on macOS 15 Sequoia or earlier.
Perch is signed with its own certificate, not an Apple Developer ID, so Apple hasn’t notarized it and Gatekeeper blocks the downloaded copy. Install with Homebrew and it clears that for you on every install and upgrade. If you used the DMG, run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Perch.app once after each release, then open Perch again.
The App Store sandbox blocks drawing above the menu bar and the agent hooks Perch relies on. Perch ships as a Homebrew cask and a direct download instead.
It adds Perch’s entries to the hooks in ~/.claude/settings.json (for Codex, ~/.codex/hooks.json). You see the diff first, the original is backed up, and every other hook stays as it was.
Yes. Prefix any command with perch watch -- and it shows up as a live activity until it exits.
With Accessibility permission, ↵ on a clip pastes straight into the app you were in. Without it, Perch copies and you paste.
